2nd EDDY AWARDS LIST OF NOMINEES BARED

The 2nd edition of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) or the Eddy Awards will take place sometime in July.  It is interesting to note that indie films dominates the line up of nominees for best picture this year; this is indeed a welcome change paving the way for independent films to be recognized in mainstream cinema.  Unlike the first edition, we do not see a clean sweep of big stars on the list of nominees in the acting categories, however some notable performances were missed out in favor of bigger stars like Sharon Cuneta for "Unexpectedly Yours" and Bela Padilla for "100 Tula Para kay Stella."  It's not that they weren't good but It is quite difficult to ignore outstanding performance of Angeli Agbayani ("Bagahe") and Iza Calzado ("Bliss") but nonetheless this year's line up is an improvement from last year.
