The musical-drama “Ang
Larawan” bagged the Best Picture award at the 43rd Metro-Manila Film
Festival held Wednesday night at the Kia Theatre. The movie is based from a play authored by
National Aritist Nick Joaquin titled “The Portrait of the Artist as Filipino”
which was staged in a musical play “Ang Larawan, The Musical” in 1997. The movie also won the "Gatpuno Antonio J.
Villegas Cultural Award", Best Actress for Joanna Ampil, Best Musical Score, Best Production Design and a special jury award for Nick Joaquin.
”Siargao,”
won 6 awards including Best Director for Paul Soriano and Best Supporting
Actress for Jasmine Curtis-Smith. The
Best Actor award went to Derek Ramsay for “All of You.”
